Retinal detachment is considered a medical emergency and a preventable vision loss if quick assessment and diagnosis are done (1). As the light sensitive tissue located at the back of the eye wall begin to detach from the tissue underneath it, sudden onset or increase of floaters, bright flashes of light, blurred vision or a shadow of blindness in certain parts of the visual field may be noted (6, 7, 8). An increase area of grayness in one eye, also termed “curtain of darkness”, can mean that a retinal tear has progressed to a detached retina (8,9).
